History

The history of Intergalactics is a bit fuzzy to me so correct me if I am wrong but I will do my best to relay the information I know. Originally the creator MoonMan (his real name still eludes me) was a student at the University of Toronto where the IGX server was a project of his for a class. The original sound files and the source code were all created by MoonMan and all of the data was stored on his account at the university where he hosted the original site. I discovered IGX back in 2001 when I was in high school and played it for at least a year when all of a sudden, one day it was just gone... I learned that MoonMan had graduated and after a certain amount of time his student account was simply deleted! Years later it seemed the Alpha Coders brought the game back. Unfortunately the game was quite buggy and crashed often or on good days would just lag so needless to say it faded into history again. Now I made a remark to bosshog who still google searched for IGX on a regular basis to the tune of 'give up, it will probably never come back' and he being his stubborn self to all of our benifit went along and set out to host it himself. He got in contact with Zyphrus who had the code and knowhow to fix the server's problems through the Alpha Coders web site and sure enough a few months later the server was back online. So special thanks to Boss and Zyph for all of their work and three cheers to IGX.
